In episode 4, the remaining eight teams of the Amazing Race finally get to leave South America. They head to New Zealand — host Phil Keoghan’s homeland. This episode, titled “I Wonder if They Like Blondes in New Zealandâ€, pits the eight teams against each other as they fly out of South America to their new destination, all on the same flight. One team breaks down at the side of the road, a member of another team fears a broken bone, and one team fights amongst themselves.
Although this is the third time that The Amazing Race has been in New Zealand in thirteen seasons, it is the first time that Phil’s dad has experienced the up-close thrill of the race.
