Finally! The divorcees are gone. I was so happy they finally got the boot.
The leg started out with teams having to go to the Deshbandu Apartments in Delhi to get their first clue. Nick & Starr were the first team to leave, having gotten to the Pit Stop first in the last leg.
On the taxi ride from the Pit Stop, Kelly and Christy joked about Andrew and Dan, quizzing each other on which one they’d prefer to be with.
The first clue sent the teams on a Road Block. In this Road Block, one team member had to take part in the Holi Festival in which revelers shot colored dye powders and water at each other. The team member doing the Road Block had to dart through the revelers to a ladder, climb it, and search for one of six clues marked Amazing Race. These clues were mixed in among numerous decoy clues that said “Try Againâ€. After finding a marked clue, they were to race back to their teammate and open it.
Although the clue specifically said to find a clue envelope marked Amazing Race, Kelly kept pulling “Try Again†envelopes and racing back to Christy. Watching all the other teams run to the ladder, get a clue, and head back again, they couldn’t figure out what they were doing wrong. Finally actually reading the clue to find out what they were supposed to do, Kelly completed the task.
The clue sent teams to the Charity Bird Hospital in old Delhi. Teams were covered in this dye powder and it would have been hard to hail a taxi looking as they did. Most teams, however, had their taxis that took them from the Pit Stop to the Road Block wait for them, so it was easy to proceed to Charity Bird Hospital. Not Kelly and Christy though. They didn’t have their taxi wait since the driver had trouble finding the Road Block. But, covered in dye, no taxi would stop, so they probably would have been better off having their original driver stay.
On the taxi ride to the Bird Hospital, Terence complained that he had dye in his nose and was trying to figure out how to squirt water up it to remove the dye. How about just blowing your nose, dummy?
At Charity Bird Hospital, teams searched for the clue among the cages, which proved to be pretty easy for most teams. One team, and no, not Kelly and Christy this time, searched in occupied cages, under food and mats, before finding the clue neatly in its own cage.
This clue sent teams on a Detour of Bleary Eyed or Teary Eyed. In Bleary Eyed, teams had to follow a congested power line looking for little numbered tags attached to the line. Once they found all the numbers, they had to find a man with a sewing machine and give him the numbers. If they were correct, he would send them to a souvenir shop where they had to plug in a Ganesha statue to receive their next clue. If not, they had to start over.
In Teary Eyed, teams had to go to a spice market and get two 40 pound bags of chilis. Then they had to carry the bags a quarter of a mile to another shop, where they then had to use a mortar and pestle and grind enough chili peppers to reach a marked line in order to receive the next clue.
Nick & Starr and Dallas & Toni were the first teams at the Detour, choosing Bleary Eyed. They decided to work together to find all the tags, once they realized how small the tags were. Both teams successfully completed the Detour on the first try and were directed to the Pit Stop. Nick & Starr arrived first, with Dallas & Toni close behind.
Terence & Sarah chose Teary Eyed, and soon found out why this Detour was called that. Of course it gave Terence something else to whine about.
Ken & Tina arrived at the Detour only to find directions to the Speed Bump that they received during the last leg. For the Speed Bump they had to go to a temple and serve Holy Water to all the worshippers before they could continue with their Detour.
Andrew & Dan and Kelly & Christy both also chose the Bleary Eyed Detour, but didn’t find the right tags. They both kept writing down numbers from signs they saw along the street. What was with Kelly & Christy riding through the street anyway? There’s no way they were going to see those little tags from a taxi.
Ken & Tina completed the Speed Bump and arrived back at the Bleary Eyed Detour while Andrew & Dan and Kelly & Christy were still there. Ken & Tina quickly discovered the numbered tags and found the man, waiting patiently while Kelly & Christy showed him their list. It was funny how they shielded Tina from copying their numbers, when they had them wrong. Ken & Tina, however, had them right.
Andrew & Dan had suggested to Kelly & Christy that they work together to find the numbers since they were both having trouble, but Kelly & Christy refused. As Ken & Tina were making their way back to their taxi, they came across a confused Andrew & Dan. Tina helped the boys out by showing them which numbers to look for, so they were able to finally complete the Detour.
Kelly and Christy finally found what they were looking for as well, and completed the Detour, too late, as they were the last team to arrive at the Pit Stop.
Teams, in order of arrival:
- Nick & Starr
- Dallas & Toni
- Terence & Sarah
- Ken & Tina
- Andrew & Dan
6. Kelly & Christy — ELIMINATED
